Manikam Ramaswami College of Arts & Science (MRCAS), Madurai, organised MRCAS CONNECT 2025–26, an interschool competition. Managing Director of Sri Aurobindo Mira Group of Schools M.C. Abilash inaugurated. Senior principal of Vikaasa Group of Schools Sudhakaran Amirtharajan was honoured. It was held under Chief Managing Director Valli Ramaswami. CEO Karunakaran, Director T. Kalaiselvan, Dean N. Asokan, Principal Padmavathi, and vice-principal K. Aruna were present.
In another programme, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Divisional Office – Madurai, under the MSME, in association with the Department of Costume Designing and Fashion Technology (CDFT) of Manikam Ramaswami College of Arts and Science, organised a two-day Education programme recently. An essay competition on the theme ‘Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion’, and an elocution competition on ‘Self-Employment’, were conducted. A seminar on rural industrialisation was held. It was inaugurated by S. Senthil Kumar, T. Kalaiselvan Director, MRCAS, and Senthilkumar Ramasamy. A fashion show organised by students of the CDFT department. Professor G. Mahesh proposed a vote of thanks.

SBOA schools, Madurai celebrated its 13th Annual Day on Saturday. Student R. Selvi Rakshika welcomed. Principal L. Latha Thiraviam presented the Annual Report. President, SBIOA Educational Trust Nithish Andreyya Rajasingh, presided. Madras High Court Judge Justice L. Victoria Gowri was the chief guest. Secretary and correspondent A. Senthil Ramesh addressed. B. Aswanth Bala proposed a vote of thanks.

Madurai: A free eye check-up camp was held at Fatima College.

A free eye check-up camp was held at Fatima College on Friday in collaboration with Sri Ramachandra Eye Hospital. Many students, teachers and office staff participated. Principal M. Fatima Mary inaugurated. Expert Dr. Caroline explained eye fatigue caused by using electronic devices for long periods. A total of 520 people participated in the camp and benefited. The National Health Service Officers coordinated.

Arul Anandar College (Autonomous), Karumathur, celebrated its 56th Annual Sports Meet on Friday. Sports and Games Coordinator Jeyabaskaran welcomed. Regional Joint Director A. Gunasekaran, Madurai, was the chief guest. State Executive Member, DMK, Ilamakezhan, and Captain-Merchant Navy, Rinto Antony, Kanyakumari, and an alumnus were the guests of honour. The rector S. Basil Xavier, secretary A. Antonysamy, and the principal M. Anbarasu felicitated. Physical Director J. Vanitha presented Annual Sports activities report. Chief guest distributed prizes and congratulated the winners of the differently-abled sports meet held on Aug 5.

Idhayam Rajendran School, Madurai hosted the 14th Kids Olympics and 27th Annual Sports Day on Friday. Founder of Kiddy Kids Junction Play School M. Ghayathri inaugurated the morning Kids Olympics, while the afternoon Sports Day, opened by Director of Thiagarajan Agro Products Pvt. Ltd., T. Thinesh Kumar. The day concluded with prize distribution.
Workshop held
A three-day hands-on training workshop on smartphone service was organised in The American College, Madurai, by the Department of Physics. It was sponsored by Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology. Professor Gnanasekar welcomed. The Principal and Secretary J. Paul Jayakar addressed. Former Professor and Coordinator of Michel Faraday Science Forum S. Stephen Rajkumar Inbanathan introduced the chief guest, Vijayakumar. It was coordinated by M. Beaula Ruby Kamalam, coordinator.
