Dineshan Cheruvatt took charge as the 42nd District Collector of Idukki on Monday. At a brief function held here in the morning, he assumed the charge from the outgoing District Collector V Vigneshwari.

Mr Cheruvatt, a native of Kannur, was appointed District Collector of Idukki while serving as the Director of the Panchayat Department. He previously served as the Fisheries Department’s assistant director, deputy director, joint director, and additional director. He also served as the Managing Director of Matsyafed. He served as the Kerala Biodiversity Board member secretary, the Kerala Water Authority joint managing director, and a Kerala Coastal Zone Management Authority member.

After assuming the charge, Dr Cheruvatt said that he will give primary importance to the ongoing development activities in the district. “ Will take special care to ensure the development of spices and the tourism sector in the district. Furthermore, we will ensure the development of Edamalakkudy, which encompasses the tribal hamlets within the district.” Said the collector.

District Panchayat president Rarichen Neeranakunnel, District Police Chief K.M. Sabu Mathew, Additional District Magistrate Syju P. Jacob, Idukki Sub Collector Anoop Garg, and Devikulam Sub Collector V.M. Arya, among others, welcomed the collector to the district.
