Hyderabad woke up to overcast skies on Saturday (July 26, 2025) as grey clouds loomed over the city, eventually giving way to drizzle in some parts and moderate rainfall in others. The early spell of rain led to waterlogging and slowed traffic in several areas.

The Hyderabad Traffic Police reported waterlogging and consequent traffic congestion at key junctions including Ayodhya Junction, Abids, Ranigunj and Saifabad. Commuters experienced delays during the morning rush as water accumulated on several stretches, hampering vehicle movement.

According to data from Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), as of 10 a.m., Film Nagar recorded a rainfall of 10.3 mm followed by 10 mm in Banjara Hills, 9.8 mm in Mehdipatnam, 9.8 mm in Gachibowli, 9 mm in Serilingampally, 8.3 mm in Shaikpet, 8.3 mm in Jubilee Hills, 7.5 mm in Khairtabad, 7.5 mm in Rajdendranagar, 7 mm in Falaknuma, 7 mm in Goshamahal, 6.8 mm in Lingampally and 6.5 mm in Chanda Nagar.

As per a morning update from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), a light to moderate spell of rain (10–15 mm) is expected across the city between 10.20 a.m. and 12.20 p.m.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a bulletin at 10 a.m., forecasting heavy rainfall at isolated places in Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, and Nizamabad districts.

For Hyderabad and its surrounding areas, the IMD predicted the likelihood of light to moderate rain or thundershowers during the evening or night, with the possibility of intense spells accompanied by gusty winds in certain areas.
