A confrontation between some local cadres of the ruling Congress and the main Opposition BRS in Sircilla led to tension for some time on Monday, prompting the police to resort to mild lathicharge to disperse the warring cadres of both parties.

The incident occurred in front of the camp office of BRS working president and Sircilla MLA K.T. Rama Rao in Sircilla, the district headquarters of Rajanna Sircilla district, on Monday afternoon.

According to sources, tension broke out when some BRS cadres stopped a group of Congress workers, who were proceeding towards the MLA’s camp office to fix the photograph of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in the camp office building.

The Congress cadres sought to defend their move saying it was mandatory to display the CM’s photograph in the public office as per the protocol.

An altercation ensued between the cadres of both parties leading to a scuffle. The police resorted to mild lathicharge to quell a clash between the members of the two groups.
