Shivamogga Lokayukta police on Monday launched a surprise visit at McGann Hospital in Shivamogga and found medicine stored without proper records.

A team, led by Superintendent of Police Manjunath Chowdhary and inspector Rudresh K.P., inspected the hospital. The team found a stock of medicines kept in a room without records. They inquired about the stock.

Gopinath, the assistant director of pharmacy, did not give a satisfactory response to the questions raised by the police. The stock kept in the room did not carry the mandatory tag “Not for Sale”, and the maximum retail price was printed on the stock.

The value of the stock has been estimated at ₹3.5 lakh.

In a communiqué to the media, Mr. Chowdhary said that the officials collected the records regarding the stock for further investigation.
