Tourism Minister R. Rajendran inaugurated the State-level chess competitions for school students under the Chief Minister’s Trophy at Salem Nehru Auditorium on Saturday (October 4, 2025) and interacted with the school students.
Later, speaking to the reporters, he said the Chief Minister’s trophy competitions are held every year under five categories: school and college students, public, differently-abled, and government employees. The district-level Chief Minister’s trophy competitions were held from August 28 to September 12 and the winners qualified for the State-level competitions.
“The chess competitions for school children (girls) will be held until Sunday (October 5, 2025). Students from 38 districts across Tamil Nadu will participate in the competition. The chess competitions for college students will be held from October 6 to October 8. Similarly, carrom competitions for school students will be held from Sunday to October 7 and for college students and government employees from October 8 to 10,” the Minister added.
