Alleging several Ministers have been amassing wealth, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Thursday said the AIADMK, if voted to power, would register cases against the corrupt and no wrongdoer would be spared.
Addressing a gathering in Karur as part of his Statewide tour, he alleged that the ruling DMK men had threatened several quarry owners across the State to pay hefty commission for mining every tonne of m-sand and p-sand. He said they were threatened that they would not be able to mine and transport m-sand and other quarry materials if they did not pay ₹100 per tonne.
According to him, several lakhs of tonnes of m-sand, p-sand, and blue metal were mined in different parts of the State every month. “It was a big scandal. Fake cases were being registered against the transporters, who failed to heed to the threat,” Mr. Palaniswami said. He alleged that the DMK had planned to use the ill-gotten wealth to buy voters in the 2026 Assembly elections.
The Leader of the Opposition alleged that several Ministers had been facing serious corruption charges. Various agencies, including the Directorate of Enforcement, had carried out searches on the premises of Ministers. A number of cases were pending. “They could not escape from the cases,” he said.
Taking a dig at Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for lavishing praise on Karur MLA and former Minister V. Senthilbalaji, he said in the past as Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Stalin levelled serious corruption charges against Mr. Senthilbalaj, who was facing corruption cases. Now, he was praising him.
The people would unseat the DMK from power for their wrongdoings, he added.
