The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has aired the view that the ‘Parakamani scam’ of Tirumala in 2023 was enacted by none other than the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), and monitored personally by then Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) Chairman A. Ravi Naidu, Andhra Pradesh Yadava Welfare Corporation Chairman G. Narasimha Yadav, Tirupati Deputy Mayor R. C. Munikrishna and AP Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation Director Vooka Vijayakumar addressed a media conference here on Sunday (September 21), where they charged the TTD’s erstwhile chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy of swindling funds to the tune of ₹153 crore from the Lord’s coffers.

Insisting that the then Chief Minister was in the know of things pertaining to the scam, Mr. Ravi Naidu vowed to bring all those involved in the scam to light. He also wondered how the TTD chairman could unilaterally arrive at a compromise formula to save an accused from the purview of law and provide an escape route from punishment.

“Mr. Karunakar Reddy has gone to the extent of giving a certificate to the scam accused as a ‘changed man’ who had ‘turned repentant’, besides claiming himself to have acted on ‘humanitarian grounds’. Who is he to make a private settlement with an accused, thus making a mockery of the legal and judicial mechanisms available?” he questioned.

“Ex CM Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy, TTD former chairpersons YV Subba Reddy, Karunakar Reddy and the then Executive Officer A.V. Dharma Reddy can never get away with this crime and will have to face the law one day,” Mr. Narasimha Yadav warned.

Mr. Munikrishna expressed surprise at Mr. Reddy justifying the act of pardoning criminals and allowing them to go scot-free. “It was indeed a black day when a man stealing from the Srivari Hundi was pardoned by none other than its custodian,” Mr. Vijay Kumar said.
