The Secretariat Colony Police arrested two men posing as Siddha practitioners for cheating a family.

The arrested have been identified as Mohammed Imran Singh Wala, 36, and Mohammed Islam 42, both hailing from Rajasthan.

The complainant Nishant Kesha, 47, said two persons approached his family at a jain temple, and promised to find a cure for his sister-in-law’s knee pain. The duo then shared the mobile number of a ‘doctor’, who when called, promised to visit the patient two days later.

Imran Singh Wala and Islam came to Mr. Kesha’s house two days later. They cut the skin on the knee of the woman, and pretended to suck out green liquid from the wound.

Complaint lodged

They collected ₹1.5 lakh, and left telling the family that she would be fine. With no relief from the knee pain, the family grew suspicious, and lodged a complaint with the police a week later.

Duo interrogated

The police then arrested the duo, and interrogated them.

The interrogation revealed that Wala and Islam had completed their studies only till the eighth grade..
