Long queues outside the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS) centres and dealer shops have become order of the day in various parts of the erstwhile composite Karimnagar district as farmers are forming serpentine lines outside these centres right from the crack of the dawn to get urea.

Scores of farmers thronged the PACS centre at Karimpet in Shankarapatnam mandal early on Tuesday morning for the fertilizer. They reportedly stood in the serpentine line for nearly two hours and some of them had kept their footwear in the line unable to stand for long hours.

Chaotic scenes prevailed at the centre as the staff concerned struggled to distribute the limited stock of around 230 bags of urea to a large number of farmers standing outside the centre, sources said.

Local police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The staff managed to distribute one bag of urea to each farmer until the available stock was exhausted.

Similar scenes were witnessed at the PACS godown in Mandepalli village in Thangallapalli mandal of Rajanna Sircilla district and at PACS sub-centres in several other villages elsewhere in the district.
