The Bombay High Court (HC) on Tuesday (August 19, 2025) functioned only till 12.30 p.m. in view of incessant rainfall that battered the city, disrupting road and rail traffic and forcing the closure of several government offices.

In a notice issued in the morning, the HC stated that due to heavy rains, bad weather forecast, and difficulties faced by advocates and staff members in commuting, all courts at the principal seat in Mumbai would hear matters only till 12.30 p.m. Officials and staff members were permitted to leave the office by 1 p.m., while secretarial staff were asked to leave as per the directions of judges.

Normally, the High Court functions from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, continuous showers since Monday (August 18, 2025) have led to disruptions across the city. Several advocates were seen appearing online to argue their matters before the court on both Monday (August 18, 2025) and Tuesday (August 19, 2025).

The India Meteorological Department issued a red alert for Mumbai and adjoining districts, forecasting extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places on Tuesday (August 19, 2025). The downpour, which followed a day of pounding rains, further crippled normal life, leaving citizens grappling with traffic jams, waterlogging, and train delays.
