A 70-year-old woman died after being attacked and gored by a wild boar in Jackanarai near Kotagiri. The incident occurred on Friday evening when the deceased, K. Chellammal, was walking along a bridle path when she crossed paths with a wild boar. The startled animal is said to have attacked her and caused a serious injury to her thigh.

Ms. Chellammal was rushed to the government hospital in Kotagiri where she died from her injuries. A postmortem was conducted on her remains on Saturday and the cause of her death was confirmed to be due to injuries from the wild boar attack. Her next of kin was granted ₹50,000 as interim compensation by the Forest Department.
