There was heavy traffic congestion on Nungambakkam High Road on Tuesday (July 22, 2025) morning after a piece of Chennai Metro Rail construction equipment developed a snag.

At around 6 a.m., a piling rig deployed for underground construction work in Nungambakkam for building the Anna Flyover Metro Rail station developed an electrical issue. Though the engineers arrived by around 7 a.m., it took a while for them to identify the exact problem with the rig.

Since the road was already narrow due to the ongoing construction work, the piling rig occupying space on the road further contributed to traffic congestion. The rig was repaired by around 11 a.m. and moved to the site, sources said.
