A 25-year-old HESCOM lineman died after coming in contact with a live wire during repairs in Mugalihal village in Belagavi district on Tuesday.

Maruti Avali had climbed an electricity pole for urgent repairs when the incident happened.

The body was then found hanging from the pole for over an hour. Later, it was removed by HESCOM officers.

They said that an inquiry will be ordered to see what went wrong and who authorised supply of power on the lines that were being repaired.

A case has been registered.
