A Special Sub-Inspector (SSI) of Police was attacked by his friends who were in an inebriated condition in Egmore on Friday.

The victim has been identified as Rajaraman, 54, SSI attached with Armed Reserve Unit-1. At 8 pm, he along with his friends, all reportedly under a drunken mood played video games at Prince Plaza. While they were leaving the place at 9.45 pm, a brawl erupted among them. Two of his friends reportedly attacked and pushed him down and then escaped. He was lying unconscious due to injury on his head, said police sources.

He was taken to a private hospital and later referred to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital. He has been admitted at the intensive care unit. Police are searching for his friends.
