Former Chief Minister and MLA O. Panneerselvam visited the family of custodial death victim B. Ajith Kumar at his house at Madapuram in Sivaganga district on Saturday. He also handed over ₹2-lakh assistance to the family.

Speaking to media, he said the post-mortem report had confirmed that the death happened due to police attack. The police should undertake investigations in a humanitarian way, and taking law in their own hands was highly condemnable, he added.

Such incidents were proving that the law and order situation in the State had deteriaorated.

DMDK general secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth also visited the family members of the victim and expressed her condolences to them.
