Theni All Women Police Station has booked a youtuber along with his family for allegedly demanding dowry from the bride’s family.  

Police said that in 2024, S. Sudarshan, of Y. Othakadai, Madurai, who was running a you tube channel, got married to a girl named S. Vimaladevi. 

During the wedding, the bride’s family gave 30 sovereigns of gold ornaments, ₹5 lakh cash and ₹2 lakh worth gifts (seervarisai) to the groom’s family.  

Despite this, the police said that in the aftermath of the wedding, for constructing the house and paying the debts, the family had demanded ₹10 lakh and gold from the bride.  

Police said that based on the complaint, AWPS has booked five members – Sudarshan, Sundararajan, S. Malathi, V. Sakthipriya and Vigneswaran. 

Further investigation is underway.
