A 39-year-old folk singer associated with a Telangana government cultural scheme was murdered allegedly by her teenage daughter late on Monday night at their residence in Jeedimetla.
The victim, S. Anjali, was found dead at her home. Police suspect she was strangled based on the marks on her neck, though the final cause of death is yet to be confirmed, pending the postmortem report.
According to Balanagar ACP P. Naresh Reddy, the murder came to light after a complaint was filed by Anjali’s younger daughter. She alleged that her elder sister, along with her boyfriend and his brother, was responsible for their mother’s death. All three accused, including two minors, have been taken into custody.
Preliminary investigation suggests that Anjali had objected to her daughter’s relationship, which led to tension in the household. Angered by this, the accused planned her murder with her boyfriend.
The daughter in question is from Anjali’s first marriage; her father died by suicide 15 years ago, while Anjali’s second husband passed away recently in a road accident.
Further investigation is underway to establish the full sequence of events, as well as the involvement and roles of each of the accused.
