Five houses were damaged in rain related incidents in Udupi district in 24 hours ending at 8.30 a.m. on Sunday.

Of them three houses were in Kundapur taluk and two in Karkala taluk. The total loss has been estimated at ₹70 lakh, according to the office of Udupi Deputy Commissioner.

The district recorded 19.8 mm rainfall during the period. The maximum 35 mm rainfall was in Karkala taluk and the minium 10.8 mm rainfall was in Brahmavara taluk.

Rain forecast

India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday that heavy rain with sustained wind (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at one or two places over Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, and Udupi districts from Monday to Thursday. Moderate rain with sustained wind (30-40 kmph) likely to occur at most places over Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Udupi districts from June 23 to June 26.
