The jallikattu organised at Tharanur village in the district left 16 persons injured on Monday. A total of 542 bulls were released during the event with the number of participating tamers being 234.

Among the injured, one person was referred to the Government Hospital, Lalgudi, and the remaining 15 were treated at the venue, said police sources.
