Bodies of a three-year-old boy and a two-year-old girl were found in a pond at Perunavalur village in Avudaiyarkoil police station limits in the district on Sunday.  The police gave the names of the children as J. Yarshith and A. Ananya of Perunavalur.

The two children were found missing from their homes in the evening prompting their parents to launch a search. Their bodies were found floating in the pond situated close to their houses. The children had drowned in the pond after entering it, the police said. The bodies have been kept at the Government Hospital, Aranthangi, for autopsy. The Avudaiyarkoil police are investigating.
