PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss on Saturday reiterated that the Chief Minister M.K. Stalin-led DMK government should conduct caste census in Tamil Nadu or else his party will hold a State-wide protest.
Speaking at an event organised by Samooga Needhi Peravai (Advocates Forum for Social Justice) to mark the centenary year of Periyarist Anaimuthu, he said Mr. Stalin had stated that the State government does not have power to conduct caste census. “Then his government should step down,” Dr. Anbumani said.
He added that recently Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had announced that his government would conduct a caste survey, which was driven by an imperative for social justice and aimed to create an equal society. “Mr. Stalin should learn from Siddaramaiah. Even States such as Telangana and Bihar have conducted caste surveys,” Dr. Anbumani said.
He said his 100-day padayatra would begin on July 25 and its key focus would be demanding the implementation of social justice by conducting the caste census.
