A 26-year-old woman was allegedly beheaded by her husband following a violent altercation late Friday night at Chandapura, Anekal taluk. Following this, the accused reportedly drove to the police station with her severed head on a scooter and surrendered.
The victim, identified as Manasa, a resident of Hebbagodi, was reportedly killed by her husband, identified as Shankar, 26, after a domestic dispute.
According to the police, the couple had been married for over five years, and were raising a three-year-old daughter while residing in a rented home in the city.
Around 11.30 p.m. on Saturday, Shankar, in blood-soaked clothes, and his wife’s severed head placed on the footboard, arrived at the Surya Nagar police station and surrendered. He was immediately taken into custody, and a murder case was registered in the early hours of Saturday, the officials said.
The police said that the accused confessed to the crime during preliminary interrogation. Shankar reportedly said that he suspected Manasa of having an extramarital affair. “This doubt had led to frequent fights between the two. Manasa had recently moved out to a paying guest facility but had returned in hopes of reconciling for their child’s sake,” the police said.
