India Meteorological Department issued thunderstorm alert for 20 districts of Telangana for Sunday (June 8, 2025).

With no rainfall in the past week, temperatures across Telangana continue to rise steadily. Several districts recorded extreme heat conditions. 

According to data from the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), Suryapet topped the temperature charts on Friday (June 6, 2025) with a maximum of 41.7°C. It was followed by Nalgonda at 41.6°C, Mancherial and Khammam at 41.5°C, and Peddapalli and Jagtial at 41.4°C. Other high-temperature zones included Karimnagar (41.2°C), Bhadradri Kothagudem (41.1°C), and Jayashankar Bhupalpally (41°C).

Several districts reported temperatures between 40°C and 41°C. These include Kamareddy, Mulugu, Warangal, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, and Adilabad which recorded 40.9°C; Nagarkurnool and Nizamabad (40.8°C); Nirmal (40.7°C); Hanumakonda and Rajanna Sircilla (40.6°C); Mahabubabad (40.5°C); Yadadri Bhuvanagiri (40.3°C); and Siddipet (40.2°C). The remaining 11 districts recorded temperatures ranging between 37°C and 40°C. Hyderabad recorded 39.7°C, while Medchal Malkajgiri registered 39.6°C.

Thunderstorm alert on Sunday

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm alert for 20 districts on Sunday (June 8, 2025). Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated locations in Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal. Additionally, gusty winds are expected to prevail at isolated locations across all districts, as per the IMD forecast.

In Hyderabad and its surrounding areas, for the next 24 hours, the IMD has forecast partly cloudy skies with light to moderate rain or thundershowers, likely accompanied by gusty winds in some parts of the city. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 37°C and 26°C, respectively.
