The Chinnakovilaankulam police have arrested a woman for stealing 11 sovereigns of gold ornaments.

Police said M. Manimala, 24, of Kurukkalpatti, after locking her house, had taken the lunch for her mother who was drying sesame on the village outskirts on last Tuesday. When Ms. Manimala returned home, she found that 11 sovereigns of gold ornaments kept in the bureau was missing.

As Ms. Manimala and her parents could not find the ornament, she filed a complaint with the Chinnakovilaankulam police.

During investigation, the police found that neighbour Subbulakshmi, who used to visit Manimala regularly, had stolen the golden ornament. After recovering the jewel from Subbulakshmi, the police arrested her on Thursday.
