KIMS Sunshine Hospital has introduced Augmented Reality (AR)-enabled Outpatient Department (OPD) services. The technology allows doctors to project a 3D visualisation of internal organs directly onto a patient’s body using AR scans, offering a real-time, and map-like view of their condition.

The hospital has partnered with SKIA, a South Korea-based medical tech company, to roll out the service. The platform works without physical markers and transforms CT and MRI scans into interactive 3D models that help doctors explain diagnoses and procedures more clearly to patients, said a release.

“This innovation allows clinicians to detect tumours, ulcers, cancers, and other internal ailments more effectively by visualising organ systems in real time,” said Dr. A.V. Gurava Reddy, Managing Director of KIMS Sunshine Hospital.

Initially, the service will be available in medical and surgical gastroenterology, urology, gynaecology, hepatology, cardiology, and neurosurgery.
