Ahead of the widely-anticipated, high-stakes IPL 2025 final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings, leaders of Karnataka took to social media to convey their wishes to the home team.

The match, being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3, 2025, will see RCB attempt to break a 17-year-old jinx and script victory. With IPL frenzy taking over loyal fans across the State, political leaders were not far behind in joining the bandwagon and cheering their team on.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took to X to convey his wishes to RCB. “From the very first season till now, we’ve stood by RCB through every high and low. May this be the year we finally lift the trophy. They say good things come to those who wait — may today be RCB’s moment, and ours too!” he wrote.

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar posted a video message, invoking the RCB fan slogan “Ee Sala Cup Namde!” which translates to “This time, the cup is ours!”

“18 years of grit. Every prayer, every cheer, every heartbreak – it all leads to today. This is more than a match. Our moment. Our Cup. Wishing @RCBTweets the very best – Karnataka is with you!”

Wishing that RCB returns home victorious, former CM and Haveri MP Basavaraj Bommai said the wishes of millions of fans would come true this year.

“Today our RCB team is playing the final match against Punjab Kings team, I wish RCB team victory. For eighteen consecutive years, RCB has emerged as the favorite to win the title this time, despite many ups and downs, and millions of fans are confident that RCB will win this time. I am confident that the fans’ wishes will come true,” he said on X.

While restobars, pubs and other venues across Bengaluru have sold out ahead of the match, fan clubs have set up a huge viewing screen at BGS Ground in Vijayanagar. The Central Business District which includes popular nightlife areas such as MG Road, Church Street, and Cubbon Park is expected to chock-a-block on Tuesday evening.

Led by MLA for Chamaraja K. Harish Gowda on June 2, fans sporting RCB jerseys and carrying posters of their favorite players performed a home and sought divine blessings for RCB to clinch the IPL title, at the Amrutheshwara Temple on Dewans Road in Mysuru on June 2. Fans in Bengaluru were also seen offering prayers on June 3.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday said the Delhi government will set up 7,000 smart classrooms in its schools by the end of the year. She added that 175 digital libraries and 100 A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Language Labs offering foreign language instruction in English, French, and German will also be made operational in the Delhi government-run schools. The CM made the announcements following a meeting she chaired with the principals of Delhi government schools in her Assembly constituency of Shalimar Bagh. ‘Intimidating parents’ In a social media post later in the day, she spoke about the “alarming reports of schools employing bouncers to intimidate parents and students”. “Education is a right, not a business. Our children deserve compassion, not coercion. Schools must remain spaces of learning, values, and nation-building,” the CM said. Her comments come a day after the Delhi High Court expressed dismay at the “reprehensible practice” by Delhi Public School, Dwarka, of allegedly hiring bouncers to block the entry of the students who had not paid the increased fee. Ms. Gupta hit out at the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for engaging in “propaganda about improving education” while “failing to provide” basic education infrastructure despite being in power for 11 years, citing the state of a government school in her constituency’s Haiderpur village. “The area neither has an English-medium school nor a higher secondary school where science is taught,” she said. The CM added, “Their much-celebrated school buildings were structurally weak — one built in 2018 deteriorated within just two years. This exposes their ‘education model’ and shows that it was merely a facade.” She said that many government schools lack proper sports grounds, face hygiene and security issues, and suffer from acute staff shortages.Cities
