The city police have arrested five peddlers found possessing cocaine and methamphetamine for the purpose of selling in Ashok Nagar.
Following a tip-off, a special team of the Anti-Narcotic Intelligence Unit (ANIU) coordinated with the Ashok Nagar police to nab the suspects. On Sunday morning, they spotted five persons near a ground on Sixth Avenue. Upon searching their belongings, the police seized cocaine and methamphetamine from them.
The police arrested M. Selvaraj, 26, of Nesapakkam, Faisul Noor, 30, of Royapettah, K. Gajendran, 32, of Royapettah, K. Vignesh, 25, of KK Nagar, J. Irfan, 26, of MGR Nagar. They seized 46.7 g of cocaine, 6.88 g of methamphetamine, and five mobile phones from them.
Three held in Manapakkam
In another case, the ANIU and the Nandambakkam police arrested three more peddlers near Manapakkam bridge during vehicle inspections.
The police arrested the trio who have been identified as S. Prasanth, 24, of Nerkundram, S. Sanjay, 20, of Alwarthiru Nagar, T. Yogesh, 23, of Saligramam. They seized 11 g of methamphetamine, a weighing machine, three phones, and a car from them.
