Schools across the district on Monday resorted to innovative ways to welcome students on the first day of the 2025-26 academic year.
As the students starting from kindergarten to higher secondary standards returned after a long gap, most of the school administrations, to help them get accustomed to the routine classes, accorded them a warm welcome.
Schools like Sourashtra Boys’ Higher Secondary School welcomed the students and parents to the tune of drumbeats.
Corporation schools, by distributing sweets and flowers, enthused the students on the first day of their school.
Al-Ameen Higher Secondary School at K. Pudur, through writers and motivational speakers, delivered a speech to the students on the importance of reading books and knowledge building.
Singarathoppu Corporation Middle School, by providing students with three fruits (mukkanigal – mango, banana and jackfruit), welcomed the class 1 students who have newly joined the school.
Similarly, in SKB Nagar Government Middle school, through a performance orchestrated by a person who donned the character of a teddy bear, greeting them for the classes.
Also, through mime plays, they were briefed about the importance of education and how the students should take the classes seriously to build a better future for themselves.
Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration P. Moorthy distributed books and notebooks to the students of Y.Othakadai Government Model Girls’ Higher Secondary School.
The students were allowed to interact with the teddy bear artist and the mime artist to encourage them to take part in such extra-curricular activities.
As the school achieved 99% pass results in the last academic year, which had surpassed the performance of even many private schools, Mr. Moorthy said that he would be providing ₹50 lakh from the constituency development fund for improving infrastructure of the school.
Speaking there, he said that why should only private schools enjoy such sophisticated facilities, when the government school students’ performance was on par with or above the performance of private school students.
