The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Sunday launched a new initiative called “priority frisking” in collaboration with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

The facility is aimed at ensuring a convenient security screening process at all metro stations for special category passengers such as disabled persons, pregnant women, senior citizens, injured people and women travelling with infants, said a senior DMRC official.

“The initiative has been launched to make travel more comfortable and accessible for passengers who may face difficulty during regular frisking,” the official said.

CISF personnel have been instructed to exercise discretion and empathy while determining eligibility. “The personnel have been advised to show sensitivity while verifying the eligibility of such passengers,” said a senior official.

DMRC and CISF are working closely to ensure proper implementation of the initiative.

“We are making sure that all security staff are aware of the process and that eligible passengers can benefit without delay,” the DMRC said in a statement.

“Our goal is to make the metro system inclusive and user-friendly for everyone,” it said, adding that this initiative further strengthens DMRC’s commitment to social responsibility in public transport.
