Ahead of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s massive roadshow here on Saturday, former AIADMK Minister Sellur K. Raju has flayed the DMK Government for having deliberately delayed the execution of Mullaperiyar drinking water scheme for the city.
In his social media post, the party urban district secretary said that the outcome of the DMK government was escalation of the project cost from ₹1,296 crore to ₹1,685 crore due to the delay.
He also pointed out that the Smart City projects that were started in the AIADMK government were yet to be completed.
“The Corporation was losing ₹7 crore every year as the commercial complex in Periyar bus stand was yet to be inaugurated,” he said.
He questioned where was the ₹280-crore Information Technology Park announced by the DMK government in 2022. Similarly, 20 acres of the 615.92 acres of land required for Madurai Airport expansion was yet to be handed over to the Airports Authority of India, he said.
He complained that the bridges constructed in the city without proper planning were hindering the development of the city which was known for its potential for tourism and spirituality.
