Two girls died after they drowned in an irrigation tank at Sundarajanpatti near here on Friday evening. The deceased were identified as M. Annalakshmi, 12, of Vadipatti taluk and M. Priya, 14, of Sundarajanpatti. The police said that Annalakshmi of Kulasekarankottai had come to his grandmother’s house on leave. Along with Priya, she had gone to the Chetti kanmai for bathing on Friday evening. The girls drowned and died at around 5.30 p.m. Local people fished out their bodies. Appantirupathi police have registered a case.
