In the 23rd year of the annual ‘Helping Hands Mela’ organised by HSBC, 10 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) showcased arts and craft products, accessories, handcrafted jewellery, fabrics, home linen, diyas, and food items at the bank’s Chennai branch on Cathedral Road.

The expo was inaugurated by Nina Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Savera Group; Kasi Viswanathan, Managing Director of CSK; film personality Vincent Asokan; and Muthukrishnan Ramanujam, Managing Director and Head Financial Accounting, Global Finance, HSBC. Ayshwarya Desikan, Executive Director and Regional Manager, HSBC, spoke about the involvement of the staff in promoting the participating NGOs. This year’s mela theme is ‘Vishwaboomi – A Miniature World of Geography’, which represents ‘The World within India.’

As part of the initiative, HSBC India will also partner with 50 NGOs across 24 branches in 11 cities. All proceeds from the expo sales go directly to supporting the causes and communities represented by these NGOs. The participating organisations focus on palliative care, intellectual disabilities in children, mental health, and more.

These stalls will be open to public from 13 to 17 October between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
