Nine bonded labourers from Andhra Pradesh were rescued from a remote fishing site at Malleswaram in Nagarkurnool district of Telangana. They reached the Krishna District Collectorate in Machilipatnam on Friday and met with District Collector D.K. Balaji, who issued release certificates to them. The nine rescued individuals persons hail from different districts, including Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, East Godavari, Visakhapatnam, Kadapa, West Godavari and Nellore

Earlier in the week, on Monday, an inter-departmental operation was carried out, where a total of 39 individuals were rescued. The Kollapur Revenue Divisional officer identified nine of the 39 individuals rescued as residents of Andhra Pradesh.

Mr. Balaji instructed District SC Welfare Empowerment Officer Shahid Babu to ensure the safe return of the labourers and deputed officers and policemen to escort the workers home.
