A 42-year-old woman and her 13-year-old daughter were found murdered in their home at Yaseen Nagar in Panjaliyur here on Friday evening. In its wake, Superintendent of police P. Thangadurai has constituted seven special teams to nab the accused.

The victims, Ellammal and her daughter Sujeetha, a Class VII student, were found dead with their throat slit. Ellammal also has a teenage son, who was not present at the time, according to the police. Her husband had died few years ago.

According to the police, Ellammal was a wage worker and was also involved in money-lending. The motive for the murder is unclear and the police are investigating.
