One person was killed on the spot, and four others were critically injured when a car overturned after hitting the median at Angallu village of Madanapalle division of Annamayya district on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Nawaz (24), a resident of Rayachoti. The injured, identified as Mohammad Ali Khan, Mujammil, Khader Khan, and Suhail (all in their early 20s), were shifted to the Government District Hospital in Madanapalle.
According to the Kurabalakota police, Suhail, one of the injured, had landed in Bengaluru from Kuwait. A group of friends picked him up from the airport and were on their way to Rayachoti when the accident occurred.
Minister for Transport, Youth Affairs and Sports, Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy, visited the hospital and expressed shock over the accident, and directed the medical officers to extend quality medical care to the injured youth and shift them to corporate hospitals if necessary. The Minister urged the public, particularly the students and youth, to strictly avoid overspeeding and overtaking on the highways, and adhere to the traffic guidelines.
