An out-of-control parcel truck caused a massive pile-up of vehicles on the eighth hairpin curve on Wayanad Ghat Road on Monday afternoon. A car got completely crushed in the accident.

The truck was on its way from Bengaluru to Kayamkulam. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to brake failure, and it rammed the vehicles in front of it. The accident led to an hours-long traffic block on the 16-km stretch from Lakkidi to Adivaram. Even ambulances were caught in the block. Later, the vehicles were moved using cranes to clear the road.

Five persons sustained injuries in the accident, and they are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Kozhikode.
