Madanapalle Institute of Technology and Science (MITS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University (YSRHU) to promote technological innovation and sustainable agriculture.
According to a press release on Sunday (August 24, 2025), MITS Vice-Chancellor C. Yuvaraj said that the collaboration will focus on integrating drones, artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) into horticultural practices. Key research areas include drones for nutrient distribution and yield estimation, automated irrigation through solenoid valves, image-based weed control, biodegradable mulching, nano-agro inputs, and mobile grass cutters.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that the partnership would help commercialise horticulture in Andhra Pradesh, enhance crop productivity, and support sustainable farming. Both institutions emphasised that the initiative reflects a strong commitment to industry–academia collaboration and farmer-centric innovation.
