The Railways will set up Accessible Help Booths manned by ‘Divyangjan Sahayaks’ at all NSG-1 to NSG-3 category stations, including Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam and Rayagada, to improve accessibility and passenger support for persons with disabilities (PwDs/divyangjan).

The booths will be located at prominent entry and exit points, clearly marked with signage for easy identification. They will provide free wheelchairs and assistive devices such as crutches, along with on-the-spot support and guidance from trained ‘Divyangjan Sahayaks’. These attendants will be familiar with station facilities to ensure timely assistance to divyangjan passengers.

The Waltair Railway Division has invited expressions of interest (EOI) from NGOs working in disability welfare and empowerment, seeking volunteers to staff the booths free of cost. The Railways will provide basic training to volunteers on support services and passenger guidance.

EOIs may be submitted to the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Waltair Division, DRM Office Annex, Dondaparthi, Visakhapatnam, or by email at watsrdcm@gmail.com, the release said on Saturday.
