A three-year-old boy drowned after accidentally falling into an open well at Suppurayan Kottai in Kurichi in Bhavani taluk on Saturday (August 23, 2025).

The deceased was identified as K. Sanjay. The police said his father, Karthikeyan, was away for work in a mill, while his mother, Vimala, was at home. Around 11.30 a.m., the child was playing near the house where the well is located. As the well had no protective wall, he slipped and fell into it. When the boy went missing, family members searched the area and later found him drowned. The body was retrieved around 12.30 p.m. and sent to Government Hospital, Anthiyur, for post-mortem. Ammapettai police are investigating.
