The Bukkapatnam mandal police in Sri Sathya Sai district have registered a case against Palaiahgari Ramesh of Narsimpalli village for allegedly circulating a misleading video on social media, in which he claimed that his disability pension had been unfairly withdrawn.

Ramesh had been receiving the pension for nearly five years during the YSR Congress Party government. However, officials said that a recent verification drive revealed he did not meet the eligibility criteria. His payments were subsequently discontinued after it was found that he had falsely claimed to be a person with a disability.

In reaction, Ramesh posted a video alleging that the withdrawal reflected a lack of compassion. Local residents, however, refuted his claims, maintaining that he had no physical disability.

Police confirmed on Saturday that Ramesh is currently absconding, and his family members have been questioned. The case details have been forwarded to Superintendent of Police V. Ratna for further legal action.

Revenue officials clarified that the verification exercise is aimed at identifying ineligible pensions, including those obtained through false claims, while assuring that all genuinely eligible beneficiaries will continue to receive their entitlements.
