The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Committee on Public Undertakings has suggested that old rice stock available at the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation godown at Pillaiyarpatti near Thanjavur can be converted as cattle feed.

According to Committee Chairman A.P. Nandakumar, Anaicut MLA, 1,538 tonnes of rice stocked at the godown in 2022 was not suitable for human consumption and hence the authorities were directed to convert the same as cattle feed. At the same time, instructions were given to the officials to initiate proceedings against those who were responsible for stocking of poor quality rice, he added.
