The North Paravur police on Wednesday registered a case over a hoax bomb threat received at the North Paravur sub court office. In an email sent to the official email address of the court, unidentified persons threatened to plant two RDX improvised explosive devices at the court or the judge’s chamber.
The bomb squad inspected the court and its premises after the police were alerted about the threat. District Police Chief (Ernakulam Rural) M. Hemalatha told the media that the police were tracing the origin of the threat message with the help of the cyber wing.
The FIR has been registered under Section 351 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), (criminal intimidation), Section 66D of the Information Technology Act, 2008, (cheating by personation using a computer resource or communication device), and Sections 120(o) and 118(e) of Kerala Police Act (public order and safety).
