The inflow into Hogenakkal crossed 1.35 lakh cusecs on Tuesday evening (August 19, 2025), registering a sudden rise in the inflow into River Cauvery in less than 36 hours.

The district administration has banned tourists and suspended coracle operations in Hogenakkal. The water had breached the banks into the platforms that were cordoned off.

On Monday morning (August 18, 2025), Biligundulu reservoir recorded a meagre 6,000 cusecs as inflow. However, the inflow steadily rose through the day closing in with 43,000 cusecs on Monday evening.

On Tuesday morning, there was a sudden surge in the inflow into River Cauvery in Hogenakkal with 78,000 cusecs. It surged by 10,000 cusecs in intervals with a cumulative inflow of 1.35 lakh cusecs recorded by the evening.

With the continuing rain, the inflow is expected to rise further on Wednesday (August 20, 2025).
