The Service Doctors and Post Graduates Association (SDPGA) has urged the Vice Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University to reconsider the decision to engage faculty members of government medical colleges for invigilation in other institutions for the first year MBBS theory examinations as their attendance would be affected.

In a letter to the Health Secretary, SDPGA’s president P. Saminathan, referring to a recent circular from the university to deans to depute faculty members as invigilators to other colleges for the first year MBBS theory examinations, said that as per National Medical Commission norms, there is no mandatory external invigilation for MBBS theory examinations. The attendance of the faculty members on the Aadhar Enabled Biometric Attendance System would be affected during the deputation period as “on duty” would not be counted towards attendance, he said.
