Rural roads under the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development department, covering a length of 86.55 km, have been damaged across various mandals in Telangana due to the recent heavy rains and floods, according to an official report.
The preliminary estimate indicates that temporary restoration would cost ₹6.5 crore, while permanent rebuilding of the road network is projected to require ₹143 crore. Overall restoration of rural infrastructure, including roads, culverts and buildings, is expected to cost ₹150 crore.
The report revealed that 66 rural roads, 83 cross-drainage structures and 60 sinkholes were damaged over the past few days amid relentless downpours. In addition, 36 buildings were declared dilapidated.
Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) on Sunday (August 17, 2025) conducted a video conference with department’s engineering wing officials to review the situation.

PR & RD engineer-in-chief (ENC) N. Ashok informed the Minister that road connectivity, which was disrupted to several remote habitations, had been restored in some villages. Access has reportedly been re-established to Karjibheempur and Rajaram villages in Bheemini mandal of Mancherial district, and Rajur village in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district’s Asifabad mandal.
The Minister directed officials to take up restoration works on a war footing and ensure there was no delay in repairing vital roads, culverts and public buildings.
