Minister for Home V. Anitha, along with Director General of Police Harish Gupta, performed ‘Bhoomi Pooja’ for a new police station building in Nakkapalli in Anakapalli district on Sunday (August 17). They were accompanied by Visakhapatnam Range DIG Gopinath Jatti, Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha and other senior officials. The new building is being constructed with CSR funding from the Hetero Group.
Speaking during the programme, the Minister highlighted the rapid industrial growth in the region, with major investments such as the ArcelorMittal Steel Plant and the Bulk Drug Park. She said Nakkapalli is poised to become a major industrial hub in the near future and it is necessary to have a well-equipped police station to ensure safety and law enforcement readiness. She emphasised that under the NDA government, the Police department has received support in terms of infrastructure, basic amenities and technology. She also announced that the department will be receiving new vehicles next month.
Ms. Anitha reiterated that the NDA government had created ‘Eagle’ to combat the ganja trade, and the launch of the ‘Shakti app’ to support women in distress. She also stated that the Police department is increasingly adopting technology with extensive installation of CCTV cameras across the State.
DGP Harish Kumar Gupta expressed gratitude to Hetero Group chairman Bandi Parthasarathi Reddy for supporting the construction of the new police station. He pinned hope that the new facility would be equipped with state-of-the-art amenities.
District SP Tuhin Sinha added that the existing, outdated police quarters at the site are being demolished to make way for a modern and model police station designed to meet the growing needs of the area in line with its industrial development.
DSP’s P Srinivasa Rao, M Sravani, Nakkapalli Circle Inspector, L Ramakrishna, Payakaraopeta Circle Inspector, Appanna and others were present.
