Chris Hemsworth has shared a video tribute reflecting on his 15-year run as Thor, prompting speculation that his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe may be nearing its end. The video, titled “Thank You! The Legacy of Thor,” was released shortly after Marvel confirmed Hemsworth will return as the God of Thunder in Avengers: Doomsday.

The tribute includes a mix of scenes from Hemsworth’s appearances across the MCU, including all four Thor films and ensemble titles like Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame. It also features behind-the-scenes footage and personal reflections from the actor.

“Playing Thor has been one of the greatest honors of my life,” Hemsworth wrote in a message accompanying the video. “For the last 15 years I’ve held Mjolnir and then Stormbreaker as the God of Thunder, but what made it truly special… was sharing it with all of you… Next up, Doomsday!”

While the post does not confirm an exit, its tone has led many fans to believe Hemsworth may be preparing to conclude his role. The actor previously indicated that any future appearance as Thor might need to serve as a conclusion to the character’s story.

“I feel like we’d probably have to close the book if I ever did it again… You have this birth of a hero, the journey of a hero, then the death of a hero… am I at that stage? Who knows?” he said in an earlier interview.

Marvel Studios has not commented on whether Avengers: Doomsday will be Hemsworth’s final appearance, though speculation has also centered around whether Thor might return for Avengers: Secret Wars, currently set for release in 2027.

Both films have recently faced delays. Avengers: Doomsday is now scheduled for December 18, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars is slated for December 17, 2027. The Russo brothers, who directed previous major MCU titles including Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, are set to return to direct both projects.
