The Chettipalayam police in Coimbatore district have arrested two more persons in connection with the murder of a Tirunelveli native in Chennai and disposal of his body in a well at Malumichampatti.

R. Logesh (21) of Thoothukudi district and John Raj (19) of Chengalpattu district were arrested late on Tuesday. They were produced before a court and were remanded in judicial custody on Wednesday.

The police said the duo was arrested on charge helping the main accused transport the body of the deceased, Jayaraman, 24, of Tirunelveli district, from Chennai and dump in an unused well at Malumichampatti two months ago.

The murder came to light after D. Balamurugan, 45, and P. Murugaperumal, 25, of Tirunelveli district surrendered before the police on August 7, claiming that they murdered Jayaraman in a brawl. The police retrieved the body of the deceased from the well on August 8.

Further investigation by the police revealed that Jayaraman was murdered by his friend I. Newton, 28, of Tirunelveli in his residence in Chennai.

According to the police, Newton had arranged an autorickshaw for Jayaraman when he had been searching for a job. Newton was annoyed as Jayaraman did not work properly and spent his earnings on alcohol. Newton murdered Jayaraman in a quarrel at his residence at Anna Nagar in Chennai, allegedly with the support of his friend and roommate M. Benitto, 27, of Tirunelveli in May.

They brought the body to Malumichampatti with the support of Logesh and John and abandoned it in an unused well with the help of Balamurugan and Murugaperumal, said the police.

Newton and Benitto were arrested a few days ago.
