A Class 11 student fainted in a classroom at a private school in Villupuram and was later declared ‘brought dead’ at a private hospital on Wednesday (August 13, 2025).

The deceased has been identified as K. Mohan Raj, 16, of Mel Theru in Villupuram.

A student of Saraswathi Matric Higher Secondary School, Mohan Raj had reached the school premises at around 7.00 a.m. to attend special classes. He collapsed in his classroom a few seconds after sitting at his desk.

A video of the incident was captured by CCTV cameras in the classroom and went viral on social media platforms. The teachers rushed him to a private hospital in Villupuram, where doctors declared him ‘brought dead’. The deceased student’s mother is a village assistant.

The body was shifted to the Government Villupuram Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem. Further investigations are on.

Meanwhile, the school declared a holiday following the student’s death.
